Position Overview:
CultivAid is seeking a skilled and experienced Bookkeeper to manage financial records, process transactions, and ensure compliance with local financial regulations and CultivAid’s policies. The Bookkeeper will also be responsible for recording and maintaining farmers’ and farm-related data and administrative tasks.
The position requires relocation to Embu, Kenya.
Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field.
- Min. 3 years of experience in bookkeeping experience, preferably in nonprofit organization or agricultural companies.
- Proficiency in accounting software or ERP software
Key Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of Kenyan financial regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirements.
- High level of written and spoken English.
- Commitment to CultivAid’s mission and values.
Responsibilities:
- Project Back office
- Take orders from Agri agents / farmers
- Deliver order instructions to the nursery manager
- Administration duties including printing, labeling documents and ordering office supplies
- Financial Record Keeping:
- Maintain and update financial records in compliance with accounting principles and CultivAid’s policies.
- Record daily transactions, including accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and reconciliations.
- Ensure that financial documents are accurately stored and accessible.
- Bank account & Cash:
- Prepare and process payments, including online transfers.
- Reconcile bank statements and cash balances monthly.
- Monitor and manage petty cash transactions, ensuring proper documentation.
- Compliance & Reporting:
- Ensuring all suppliers’ documents are available according to the law and CultivAid’s Policies.
- Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Ensure compliance with tax and statutory obligations.
- Support external and internal audits by providing necessary financial documentation.
- Payroll & Employee Expenses:
- Assist in preparation of payroll, ensuring accuracy in salary calculations, deductions, and statutory payments.
- Review and verify employee expense reports, ensuring proper documentation and approvals.
