Position Overview:

The Junior Agronomist / Project Lead will be instrumental in supporting various agricultural projects in Tanzania, with a primary focus on our “Unlocking the Grape Value Chain” project in Dodoma. This role involves managing a variety of activities related to Extension to Farmers, Value Chain Development, Capacity Building, and Research & Development. 

The Position Requires Relocation to Dodoma, Tanzania. 

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

  • Fluent Hebrew speaking and writing- A MUST
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
  • 1-3 years of experience in agriculture field work
  • Experience working as a project manager 
  • Ability to prioritize, work independently and take initiative.
  • Fluent English speaking and writing

Nice to Have:

  • Experience working in an international environment
  • Experience in growing grapes

Responsibilities:

  1. Project Management:
  • Ensure action plan implementation and proper resource management and reporting.
  • Participate in annual planning meetings to develop plans, budget forecasts, and operational strategies.
  • Staff management and guiding the performance of the program agronomist.
  • Develop and implement detailed project plans.
  • Monitor project progress, manage schedules, and ensure adherence to deadlines.
  1. Demonstration plot operation, training and data collection:
  • Work plan implementation of demo plots and oversee the action plans.
  • Technical support for cultivation.
  • Data collection and analysis of farmers.
  • Implementation of training programs at each plot.
  • Staff training.
  1. Strengthening Value Chain Partnerships:
  • Build and maintain relationships with value chain actors.
  • Promote contracts between processors and farmers for market stability.
  • Organize and conduct workshops.
  • Support and participate in the Dodoma Wine Festival.
  1. Research & Development:
  • Oversee the establishment of a regional nursery for improved grape varieties.
  • Ensure the production of high-quality vine seedlings.
  • Develop and manage research programs with partners.
