Position Overview:

We’re currently seeking a Junior Bookkeeper to join our team in our office in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. This role involves providing support for daily financial and accounting tasks for the organization in Ethiopia.

The main duties include preparing and maintaining financial statements, compiling reports, preparing balance sheets and supporting logistical tasks in the office.  

The ideal candidate will have strong financial skills, attention to detail, a basic understanding of accounting principles and proficiency in excel. Location: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. 

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required)
  • 1+ year of experience in accounting or bookkeeping
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and accurate financial record-keeping
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office for financial analysis
  • Familiarity with accounting software and email management
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and error correction
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and teamwork skills
  • Fluent in English (speaking, reading, writing)

Responsibilities:

  • Expenses Tracking: Monitor and record daily expenses, ensuring accurate tracking and classification within the organization’s accounting systems.
  • Financial Reporting: Update and maintain financial records daily, ensuring that all transactions are accurately entered into the accounting software.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain thorough and organized records of all financial transactions, including scanning and uploading expense receipts to the designated digital drive.
  • Statutory Payments: Handle the payment of income tax and pension.
  • Bill Payments: Assist in processing and paying bills, ensuring that all payments are made on time and accurately recorded.
  • Supplier Invoices: Collect, review, and verify invoices from suppliers, ensuring accuracy and compliance with contractual agreements.
  • Reporting Support: Assist in the preparation and analysis of financial reports, providing timely and accurate data to support decision-making processes.
